Our time-honoured tavern attracts two million visitors a year, so it is not surprising that a lot of them want to take home a memory of their visit. To meet their wishes, we have now opened up a gift shop in the traditional style of the Schwemme, the beer hall at the heart of the building, and in the process have taken care to ensure that it creates a clear, uncluttered but inviting impression. As Harald Brunnhuber, who is responsible for the shop's management, explains, "We have gone for a look that distances itself from the usual souvenir shops by expressing the values – quality and tradition – that the Hofbräuhaus stands for". Accordingly, the gift shop has no extraneous embellishment, since scrolls and flourishes have no place in the traditional Bavarian style that the Hofbräuhaus is associated with. The assortment of attractive and useful products that the shop sells – ranging from salt-glazed steins to stylish apparel – displays the same purity of design and emphasis on quality.

The shop is proving popular not only with visitors from abroad but also with locals, who like to drop by to pick up gifts or items for embellishing the home. As Harald Brunnhuber relates, "Even Hofbräuhaus regulars are enthusiastic about the shop and its range of products, and that is praise indeed!"
